Oooh look!

Some of my Sweet Pea stamps creations are up as a Customer Submission over at the Sweet Pea Stamps blog. :)

And another one...

I think I may be getting slightly hooked on challenge blogs! ;)

I've found another Sweet Pea stamps challenge blog - In a Sweet Pea Dream. The current challenge theme is ATCs, which I love anyway, so combine that with my love for Sweet Pea stamps and yeah.. you guessed it...

Here's my entry:

I made the background by spraying card with Dylusions inks and then adding some cirles and lines with Buttercup and Bronze Eco Green paints. I stamped Ching Chou Kuik's Love Is Gone onto white card and coloured her in with ProMarkers then cut her out and attached to the background. To finish off, I rubbed a little Inka Gold around the edges.

Isn't she pretty? :)

Sweet and Bright!

Oooh looky! I've found another fabby challenge blog! :D

I followed a couple of links today and stumbled across the Sweet Pea Stampers challenge blog. I luuuurve Sweet Pea stamps, and the Ching Chou Kuik designs in particular, so of course this was a challenge that immediately appealed to me!

The current challenge ends today so I had to dive in and have a go. The theme is Sweet and Bright and this is my entry:

The stamp is Ching Chou Kuik's Red Hearts and I had a bit of fun with this one... first of all I created a lovely bright coloured background using Dylusions spray inks. I then stamped the image over the background and used varigated green foiling to fill in the sun/moon/circle behind the figure. I then stamped the image a second time onto white card, coloured it in with ProMarkers and cut the figure out and attached it over the figure on the foiled background card. I covered the front of a card blank with some pretty paper from the DCWV Sweet Stack, matted the completed image onto some pretty sparkly orange paper and attached to the card. I added sparkly chipboard corners from the coordinating DCWV Sweet Chipboards and some Making Memories flowers, and a flower, gemstone and sparkly brads from the Papermania Capsule Collection. Et voila.

I'm quite pleased with how this turned out - the colours are fresh and bright and pretty and sweet. :)

WOYWW - 10 August 2011

It's Wednesday once again and time for a trawl of the world's craft desks, as hosted by the queen of WOYWW herself, Julia Dunnit.

My desk is still in desperate need of tidying... how long have I been saying that for? I really should stop talking about it and start actually *doing* it! :D The problem is I have things I want to work on, some of them with deadlines, and time spent tidying is time I can't craft!

So here's this week's chaos:

A couple of cards in progress there and lots of bits and bobs and tools etc left over from previous projects.

And here's where my computer keyboard is supposed to be:

It's under there somewhere but a measure of excavation is required before typing is possible! :)

I have actually done some tidying. I've made a start on the laminating for my new stamp storage project. And I have actually done quite a bit of tidying in this area:

Yes, I know it still looks a mess but believe me, it's much tidier than it was! There were previously teetering piles of stash on top of both of these boxes - to the point that I was surprised to find that packet of wipes as I'd forgotten it was under there!

Despite the best of intentions, I can't guarantee that things will be any tidier next week. But I'll keep trying!

Thanks for stopping by - have a fun WOYWW!

Passion for ProMarkers - Week 111

The theme this week over at the Passion for ProMarkers challenge blog is "Hugs and Kisses" and here's my, rather last-minute, entry:

I used a scrummy Ching Chou Kuik image from Sweetpea stamps (thanks to Zahreen for sending me this image in our stamped image swap! :D) and coloured it in with my ProMarkers. Papers are Spring Feast by First Edition and I added a paper flower by Prima and used Glossy Accents to draw a swirl and added some absolutely scrummy Stampin' Glitter by Stampin' Up! that I've had sitting on my desk for weeks but hadn't tried out yet. Lush, isn't it? :)

I like how this card turned out. The colours are pretty but kind of muted and the colours of the paper tone really well.

Butterfly Tag

This is a tag I created for this week's challenge over at Simon Says Stamp and Show:

I had lots of fun with this getting inky and messy and playing with lots of different techniques. I stamped a couple of swirls (using a Crafty Individuals stamp) in white Adirondack Paint Dabber and then inked the background with Distress Inks, wiping the ink off the paint swirls to let them show through. I then stamped a few background images in Sepia Archival ink (using Tim Holtz stamps) and spritzed with lemon juice and heated for a funky aged effect (as used in the latest issue of Craft Stamper magazine). I then had a play with some UTEE, stamping into melted UTEE to make a chunky embellishment (also a technique featured recently in Craft Stamper magazine):

I then stamped some butterflies across the bottom of the tag and embossed them with clear embossing powder (a bit hard to see in the main photo):

I stamped the wording in Sepia Archival Ink and then stamped more butterflies in brown StazOn onto acetate, cut them out and folded up the wings and attached with Glossy Accents. To finish off I edged the whole tag with Sepia Archival ink and added a scrap of cream lace which I'd inked a little with Tea Dye Distress Ink.

WIYWW...

...or, Where Is Your Workdesk Wednesday! :D

Cos mine is, sadly, not where I am. I'd love to share with you a picture of what's on it but it's at home in West Yorks and I'm here in North Wales with my two girls, enjoying a few days staying at my mum's. I've done no crafting but we've had some great trips out to Welsh Mountain Zoo, to the Seaquarium and a ride on one of the country's oldest miniature railways at Marine Lake. The girls have been having a fab time and DD1 in particular has loved seeing all the animals and fishes. :)

I'm feeling a bit craft-deprived so I've bought some craft mags at WH Smiths today... but that's made me miss my craft room all the more!

Ah well. We'll be heading home on Friday so with any luck I can dive in my craft room for a couple of hours on Friday evening. In the meantime, tomorrow's agenda includes spending the afternoon on the beach - DD1 has a full set of bucket and spade and moulds and sieves etc and is raring to go! :D

Thanks for stopping by. Hope you've been having a great WOYWW.
