Fancy a swap?

The new challenge goes live at One Stitch at a Time today and the theme is a perennial favourite - Anything Goes! :)

For my project this week, I decided to do something different and not do a card... my inspiration came from the gorgeous image I was given to work with - Godshill by Ike's Art:

I loved this little village scene so much and I decided to have a play about with colouring it with different mediums - so I made a set of 4 ATCs, each coloured with a different medium. Isn't it amazing the different effect you get just from changing the medium/way you colour an image?

Here's a close up of the individual cards and the mediums used to colour them:

Promarkers
Distress Markers
Watercolour pencils (dry)
Watercolour pencils (painted with)
It's easy to enter the One Stitch at a Time challenge - just make your project (it can be anything cos Anything Goes! :D), post it to your blog, or other online gallery, and then link your entry up at the One Stitch at a Time blog. You can enter without using a Stitchy Bear product and will be entered into a draw to win a $3 gift voucher for the Stitchy Bear store. If you enter using a Stitchy Bear product, you'll be entered into the draw to win this month's fabulous collab of digi stamps and papers from Stitchy Bear:

I'm also going to swap these ATCs. If you've never made ATCs before, they are a lot of fun. You can use any medium you like - stamps, digi stamps, paints, doodling, hand-drawing, mixed media, collage, anything you can think of! The only rules for these little mini pieces of art are the size - they must be 3.5" x 2.5" - and that they cannot be sold, only traded or given away.

Winged Things

I had a quick play today and made a cute little ATC using one of my Stampotique stamps:

I made the background using Distress Stains and stamped the Smile image onto the background, then stamped him again onto white card and coloured him with Distress Markers before attaching him to the background, over the stamped image.

I stamped him twice again onto white card and coloured in the hearts and cut them out, attaching one over the coloured image using a foam pad. I attached the second heart, again using a foam pad, to the background and added some wings which I drew onto white card (coloured with Distress Stains) and cut out.

To finish, I hand-wrote the wording, cut them out and attached to the background and doodled a border with black fineliner and white gel pen.

I'm entering this ATC into the Wings challenge at the Stampotique Designer's Blog. :)

Distressed Page

No, not a page that's sad but a scrapbook page made entirely with Distress products! :)

The new Scrap Map challenge is up over at Creative Craft World's challenge blog.

The challenge is simple - just make a scrapbook page using the sketch for inspiration, upload it/pop it on your blog and add your link to the Scrap Map challenge post. You've got till 4 August to enter and you could win yourself a fabby scrapbooking kit and a DT guest spot! :)

Here's the sketch for this month's challenge:

And here's my take on it:

I started with the idea of swiping Distress Stains across the page to make blocks of colour behind the photos, echoing the rectangles on the sketch. I added a bit of texture and interest by dabbing Distress Ink through a stencil of small circles and replaced the large circle in the sketch by dabbing Distress Ink over a decorative mask. I mounted my photos with foam tape for a bit of added dimension and finished things off by doodling frames, a few decorative flowers and some circle borders using Distress Markers. I drew and coloured my journalling and title (cut out and mounted with foam pads) with Distress Markers too. Et voila, a scrapbook page made entirely with Distress! :)
